On May 14, 2025, the "2025 Second hand Car Export Development Forum" hosted by the China Automobile Dealers Association was grandly held in Yili, Xinjiang. This forum focuses on the current development trends, difficulties, challenges, and upgrading paths of second-hand car exports, attracting government agencies, industry experts, and second-hand car export and related enterprises to attend.
At this forum, Zhang Changshuai, Assistant General Manager of Weipu Automobile, delivered a keynote speechEcological Reconstruction and Platform Empowerment of China's Used Car Exports in the Digital WaveSystematically explain how digital technology can solve industry problems and reshape export competitiveness.
In the increasingly fierce competition in the global automotive market, China's second-hand car export business is thriving at an astonishing speed. Since the launch of the second-hand car export work in the second half of 2019, after more than five years of efforts, the export scale has grown year by year, involving countries and regions such as Europe, America, the Middle East, and Africa, forming a strong market network. In early February 2024, with the release of the "Announcement on Relevant Matters Concerning the Export of Used Cars by the Ministry of Commerce and Five Other Departments", more than 2000 enterprises across the country have applied for export registration and invested in the export of used cars. The export of used cars has become a new force in the development of the used car industry. The total export volume of second-hand cars for the whole year of 2023 and 2024 is about 270000 and 400000 respectively, achieving a leap in export volume. Nowadays, more and more Chinese second-hand cars are heading to various parts of the world, opening up new sales markets.
To further promote this development trend, the China Automobile Dealers Association has held this forum on the development of second-hand cars. This forum is not only a grand event between industries, but also provides a platform for in-depth communication for participating enterprises, helping to sort out the problems in the process of second-hand car exports, assisting enterprises in better exploring international markets, and enabling China's second-hand car exports to shine on the global stage. At this forum, major second-hand car export and related enterprises shared many difficulties and challenges encountered in their daily lives, and proposed response strategies based on practical experience.
Zhang Changshuai pointed out in his speech that,China's second-hand car exports are currently facing multiple challenges such as fragmented vehicle sources, information asymmetry, and trust crisis:The dispersion of small and medium-sized car dealers leads to high integration costs of vehicle sources, and cross regional cooperation is hindered by a lack of trust, resulting in a long average vehicle source acquisition cycle; The differences in vehicle condition standards between domestic and foreign markets, delayed information transmission, and the risk of fraud further exacerbate the doubts of overseas buyers, drive up return rates and transaction costs, and constrain the large-scale development of the industry. To solve the dilemma, Zhang Changshuai emphasizedDigital technology has become the core engine for restructuring the industry ecosystem.
Weipu Automobile integrates hardware equipment such as OBD diagnostic instruments and paint film testers, as well as maintenance data and inspection systems, through its independently developed "vehicle condition detection system", to generate standardized multilingual reports covering 560 indicators; The "intelligent pricing model" built on big data and artificial intelligence deeply integrates vehicle condition data, market trends, and expert experience to achieve precise pricing and a leap in transaction efficiency.
In addition, the platform has innovatively launched the "one click lock library" function, which aggregates scattered vehicle sources across the country and intelligently matches overseas demand, helping exporters shorten the procurement cycle. At the same time, it provides one-stop services for overseas buyers from online vehicle inspection, customs clearance procedures to cross-border logistics.
Zhang Changshuai further emphasized that,The value of digital platforms lies not only in solving single point problems, but also in promoting the collaborative upgrading of the entire industry chain.I hope that every enterprise present here will embrace the digital trend in a timely manner, seize the opportunities brought by the digital wave, actively participate in platform construction, and create a better future for the second-hand car export industry.
Currently, digitization is an inevitable trend in the development of the industry. Weipu Automobile will continue to innovate, embrace digital transformation, and create more professional, efficient, and safe one-stop automotive export services for customers, exporting high-quality Chinese used cars to the world.
